WHO IS WINCANTON YOUTH THEATRE

wyt

Wincanton Youth Theatre is an amazing opportunity for anyone aged between 8 and 18. It offers the chance for children and teenagers to not only get stage experience, but also learn from workshops, and all elements of putting on a production, including helping to direct, choreography, props, make up, tech and back stage.

Amateur theatre also helps with self-esteem, confidence and gives children and young adults a wide range of skills that can be used in all aspects of their lives as they grow into adults.

Wincanton Youth Theatre is run by Sarah Adams, who always aims to get the best out of people, regardless of their age and ability. She works incredibly hard with all the WYT members and helps give them the confidence to shine.

WYT put on one full production every year, as well as joint projects with Wincanton Amateur Dramatics society, where members have the opportunity to write their own short scripts as well as help to set their own individual performances.

For members who have been with WYT for a year there is an opportunity to be put forward for LAMDA : London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. This is something that Wincanton Youth Theatre pay for, and is a fantastic opportunity.

WYT try and keep the membership prices as low as possible in order to be an inclusive group. A yearly membership for one child is £140 and this can be paid quarterly at £35 per quarter, or monthly at £11.67 per month. A family yearly membership is £220.00 per year, £55.00 per quarter and £18.34 a month. The tech department yearly membership is £10.00. This helps WYT cover the cost of the hall hire for sessions, rehearsals and shows, as well as insurance, and other costs involved in running Wincanton Youth Theatre and being able to provide some great opportunities for its members.

This years Big performance is a modern day version of The Wizard Of Oz. It is an original script that has been written for WYT, and stays true to the much loved book by L. Frank. Baum, just in a more modern day setting. Auditions are on Sunday 3rd of March at Wincanton Memorial Hall and start at 2.30 pm. Audition pieces and further details can be found on the WYT Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/wytonline.

WYT look forward to seeing lots of excited faces for the Auditions. And good luck to everyone who comes along
